Cookie policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026.
This page explains what the Barnet House website (barnethouse.com) stores on your device, why, and how to change your mind.
Who we are
Barnet House, 38 High Street, Dunfermline KY12 7AS, is run by Dunfermline Estates Ltd, a company registered in Scotland (no. SC763736), registered office 90 Castle Street, Glasgow G4 0SA. If you have a question about this policy, email info@barnethouse.com. How we look after personal data in general is explained in our privacy policy.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser. A website can also keep information in your browser’s own storage (local storage and session storage). The law treats both the same way, and so does this page: where we say “cookies”, we mean both.
What we ask you about
A few cookies are strictly necessary: the site needs them to work, or to provide something you asked for, such as a booking. The law allows these without asking first. Everything else stays off until you say yes.
You can change your answer at any time from Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Saying no is as easy as saying yes, and the site works the same either way.
We do not use advertising cookies, and we never sell or share information about your visit for advertising.
Strictly necessary
cc_consent (browser storage) — remembers your cookie choices, so we don’t ask on every page. Kept for 6 months, then we ask again.
booking-search (session storage) — keeps your dates and number of guests while you move between pages. Deleted when you close the tab.
__stripe_mid and __stripe_sid (cookies set by Stripe, our card payment provider) — only on the booking page, and only when you pay by card. Stripe uses them to prevent fraud and keep the payment secure. __stripe_mid lasts 1 year, __stripe_sid 30 minutes. More in Stripe’s cookie policy.
Only with your consent
Remember my search — booking-search (local storage) keeps your dates and number of guests for 30 days, so the booking form is already filled in when you come back.
We do not use any analytics on this site, so nothing counts your visits. If we ever add analytics, it will only run when you switch it on, and we will list its cookies on this page before it starts.
Other websites
Our booking form talks to Amenitiz, the booking system we use, straight from your browser. That exchange does not put any cookies on your device. Links to Instagram, Facebook or other websites take you to sites with their own cookie policies.
Changing your mind
Open Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. You can also delete cookies and site data in your browser’s settings — if you do, we will ask you again on your next visit.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we store, we update this page and change the date at the top. Where a change needs your consent, we ask you again.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we use cookies, please tell us first at info@barnethouse.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
